Garrett Wilson's Shedeur Sanders Tweet Resurfaces Amid Browns Trade Rumors

Despite having one of the worst records in the NFL, the Cleveland Browns remain one of the league's biggest talking points.

The 2-5 Browns have already traded Week 1 starting quarterback Joe Flacco to the division rival Cincinnati Bengals and promoted rookie third-rounder Dillon Gabriel to the new QB1, and now the team has been linked to one of the top young receivers in the NFL a little over a week out from the NFL's Nov. 4 trade deadline.

Earlier this week, multiple reports indicated the Browns had their eye on New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson - a seemingly desperation move to try and infuse some juice into Cleveland's 30th-ranked offense and possibly help try and salvage the team's meager playoff hopes.

However, the Jets have given no indication they'd even consider moving a valuable piece like Wilson, a 25-year-old former Offensive Rookie of the Year who the team just signed to a four-year, $130 million contract extension over the summer.

And while the odds of a Wilson-to-Cleveland deal actually happening are slim, the situation did get a little more interesting after an old tweet of Wilson's about Browns rookie QB Shedeur Sanders resurfaced on social media.

"Bra Shedeur is one of them ones at QB.. everything look easy," Wilson tweeted back on September 2, 2023.

Several fans unearthed Wilson’s old tweet and used it to fuel the trade fires on social media.

“Beeeeen said @GarrettWilson_V. Get to CLE and be his WR1,” one fan posted.

“Garrett Wilson will be a Brown soon 👀,” another fan replied.

“Come run routes for bruh then,” a third fan remarked.

“Wilson wants to play with Shedeur not Dillon 🤣,” one user quipped.

“Welcome Home 🏠,” another user wrote.

If Wilson were traded to Cleveland, which, again, is highly unlikely-though the Browns do have Jacksonville's 2026 first-round pick to dangle thanks to the Travis Hunter trade back in April-it's possible the team could then bench Gabriel and play Sanders.

The Colorado alum has yet to play this season, but some have speculated his chance to start may come sooner rather than later with the struggling Browns offense averaging just 16 and scoring five total touchdowns in the three games since Gabriel took over as the starter (they're 1-2 in those contests).

Browns insider Tony Rizzo of ESPN Cleveland speculated if Gabriel continues to struggle against the New England Patriots in Week 8, then it's possible the team could use the following week's bye to prepare Sanders for his first NFL start a week later against the Jets at home at Huntington Bank Field.

The big question now is which team will Wilson be playing for when that game arrives?
