Can Summerville be electric for West Ham under Nuno?

**Can Crysencio Summerville be the man to help drag Nuno Espírito Santo and West Ham United out of this rut they’re currently stuck in?**

When West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville returned from a seven-month absence against Nottingham Forest in August, he was truly electric.

The Dutch winger changed the game at the City Ground, assisting Jarrod Bowen and winning a penalty as the Hammers ran out 3-0 victors.

It was Summerville’s first appearance on a football pitch since he suffered a long-term hamstring injury in Graham Potter’s first game as Hammers boss against Aston Villa in January, but against Forest, he looked like he had never been away.

Following the game, fans believed that summer departure Mohammed Kudus had been perfectly replaced by the Dutchman, but he has failed to replicate such a performance since.

While skipper Jarrod Bowen has scored twice in the five games since, Summerville is yet to open his account for the season, looking frustrated on the Hammers’ left.

The Irons have picked up only one point out of a possible fifteen in their last five games. Summerville has, at times, looked a threat, but is lacking the end product that the Hammers so desperately need.

However, it must be admitted that Summerville has still looked physically sharp, considering how long he spent on the sidelines. The injury does not seem to have hampered his speed on and off the ball.

The No.7 can glide past players with ease and has been one of the brighter sparks in a dim Irons’ side, but he needs support from his teammates to truly get the best out of him.

Summerville is undoubtedly talented and could be very well suited to Nuno’s counter-attacking based system. If the boss can sort out some of the Hammers’ problems on the pitch, the Dutchman could become a key player during the rest of the campaign (provided he stays fit).
