Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are hoping to stop a two-game losing streak in Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
The Bills started the 2025 NFL season with a 4-0 record, taking down the Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints to open up the year. The AFC squad then responded to that hot start with back-to-back losses against the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons.
Now fresh off their Week 7 bye, the Bills are gearing up for this weekend’s matchup against the Panthers, who are currently moving in the right direction with a three-game winning streak.
Earlier this week, the NFL announced its referee assignments for the Week 8 slate of games.
Craig Wrolstad will be the lead official when Allen and the Bills take the field for Sunday’s matchup against the Panthers at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium.
Allen is 3-5 with Wrolstad as the lead official through his NFL career so far - a concerning statistic pointed out by Bills data analyst Kevin Massare.
“The Bills will see Craig Wrolstad officiating the game in Carolina. He officiated the Panthers’ 30-0 home win over the Falcons. He’s called holding 16 times this year in 7 weeks. He called KC for 0 2 weeks ago. Home teams are 5-2 with him this season. Josh Allen is 3-5 with him,” Massare wrote on X.
Massare identified the five Buffalo losses with Wrolstad officiating.
After throwing just one interceptions in the Bills’ first four wins of the season, Allen has thrown three over the last two games. In Week 6’s 24-14 loss to the Falcons, the reigning league MVP threw two interceptions and took a season-high four sacks.
“It comes down to going out there and executing each and every given play call that Joe [Brady] gives us,” Allen said during a recent press conference. “… You learn a lot from these losses that maybe you don’t learn in wins… We’re looking forward to trying to correct those.
Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Panthers will kickoff at 1 p.m. ET.
