Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris has confirmed a fresh injury blow ahead of his side’s clash with Chelsea.

Sunderland boss Regs Le Bris has been speaking ahead of his side’s clash with Chelsea, confirming a fresh injury issue for his side. The Black Cats have enjoyed a very impressive start to the season, currently seventh after defeating Wolves last time out.

Le Bris’s men have only lost twice in their first eight games back in the top flight and, so far, they look head and shoulders the best of the three promoted sides.

But Chelsea go into this one in good form themselves, though, having won their last two Premier League games, beating Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, and they also thrashed Ajax 5-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday night, although the Dutch side did get a red card early on in that one.

The Blues are now up to fifth in the Premier League, and they are just two points behind Manchester City in second place. The West London side will be eyeing another three points here, but the Black Cats have made things tricky for the majority of their opponents, even with significant injury issues early in the season.

Those issues have been added to by Omar Alderete picking up a concussion which will mean he will miss this game and potentially the subsequent game. “The only one [injury concern]. is Omar - he is under concussions protocols,” Le Bris has said, as cited by the Sunderland Echo. “He is having daily assessments - we’ll keep monitoring him. We will see if he can make Everton.”

In better news for Sunderland, Noah Sadiki is available despite fears he was struggling with his fitness after a tricky international window. “He recovered really quickly,” Le Bris added. “I was a bit worried after the game against Wolves but he has trained fully this week. He is young, flexible, and ready to play.”

Speaking about the Chelsea clash more generally, Le Bris continued: “It’s been a good start to the season for us. It shows we were consistent, flexible. Chelsea are really strong, it’s a top four team in the Premier League. They can play 60 games, they have depth, young and dynamic. It’s a good example for us. They are well coached and have individuals who can win a game. It’s a big test.”
