Carson Wentz gets the brutal meme treatment for poor game vs. Chargers

The S.S. Carson Wentz continues to sink.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz had a poor showing on this week’s “Thursday Night Football” against the Los Angeles Chargers. In a blowout 37-10 loss for Minnesota at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., Wentz went 14/23 for just 144 passing yards. While Wentz did throw a touchdown, he took five sacks on the evening and also threw a particularly brutal air-mail interception in the third quarter.

The former All-Pro Wentz was quickly skewered over social media for his dud of a game. Check out a sampling.

Wentz, now 32, has started the last five games under center for the Vikings with JJ McCarthy still sidelined due to an ankle injury. But after leading Minnesota to victory during his first start against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3, Wentz has seemingly gotten progressively worse.

On the season, Wentz has now taken 19 sacks with six touchdowns to five interceptions. Meanwhile, the Vikings (who were 14-3 last season) have now already lost more games than that this season at 3-4.

Though the team as a whole has had a couple of decent moments in recent weeks, the veteran Wentz is not inspiring any sort of confidence at all under center right now.
