Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon enjoyed a brilliant night against Benfica, and his display has been recognised by UEFA.
Jose Mourinho may not be at the absolute top of the game anymore, but praise from ‘The Special One’ is still a huge compliment.
Mourinho paid tribute to Anthony Gordon on Tuesday night, telling the Newcastle United winger that he was ‘too much’ against Benfica.
Gordon opened the scoring for Newcastle before later adding an assist for Harvey Barnes to make it 3-0.
Mourinho was clearly impressed with Gordon’s display, and it seems UEFA felt similarly.

Anthony Gordon named in Champions League Team of the Week
UEFA have announced their Team of the Week for matchweek three of the Champions League.
Gordon’s display against Benfica saw him land a spot in the XI as he joined some huge names.
Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk, Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes and Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes were all included.

Gordon was placed as the left winger in the Team of the Week, joining Athletic Club’s Gorka Guruzeta and PSV Eindhoven’s Dennis Man in attack.
Gordon has been in superb form throughout this Champions League campaign, bagging four goals in just three outings.
Tuesday’s goal was no huge surprise, but it’s great to see Gordon receiving such recognition.
It’s time for Anthony Gordon to step it up in the Premier League
Gordon’s Champions League form has been fantastic to watch, but it’s now time for him to shine in the Premier League as well.
The England wide man has failed to score in the Premier League this term, and hasn’t registered an assist either.
We know the 24-year-old can deliver in the Premier League, but it hasn’t happened yet this season.
Gordon loves playing with Nick Woltemade, and we will surely see that connection blossom in the Premier League sooner rather than later.
This weekend’s clash with Fulham would be the perfect time, with Gordon hopefully on a real high after his display against Benfica.
