LAS VEGAS ([FOX5](http://fox5vegas.com/)) — More than 30 people, including current and former NBA stars and coaches, are under arrest in a massive gambling bust involving schemes to rig sports bets and poker games connected to mafia families, the FBI announced Thursday.
Indictment documents show the schemes involved multiple NBA players providing inside information to co-conspirators who used the tips to place large bets on games.
Las Vegas connection

Among those arrested is Shane Hennen, also known as “Sugar,” who has ties to Las Vegas, according to the FBI. The FBI said Hennen lived in Pennsylvania and Nevada and claimed on social media to be a successful sports bettor.
In March 2023, Terry Rozier, then a player for the Charlotte Hornets, tipped off his friend that he planned to leave a game early because of an injury, according to indictment documents. The FBI says this allowed his friend to place bets using that information.
That friend and Hennen and others used the information to bet more than $200,000 predicting Rozier’s under-performance. Rozier left the game within nine minutes.

In January 2024 and March 2024, the FBI says Jontay Porter, who was a Toronto Raptors player, let co-conspirator Long Phi Pham and others know he would leave games early because of injuries. This allowed Pham and others, including Hennen, to place bets.
The local FBI special agent in charge confirmed agents helped make an arrest Wednesday morning in Las Vegas but would not say who they arrested.
