Daniel Farke is backing Dominic Calvert-Lewin to improve his goals-to-game ratio before long, underlining that Leeds United teammates need to keep providing him with the chances to score.
Calvert-Lewin squandered five great opportunities to find the net against Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur but the lack of service offered to him against Burnley in last Saturday’s 2-0 loss was notable.
The attacker has otherwise been a real asset of United’s forward play. The 28-year-old is frequently seen beating defenders to flick-on headers, holding them off to retain possession from long balls and does his share of pressing.

Leeds United have slashed up to 50% off select kits and merch on their official club store, including this season's home shirt.
He is one of the main reasons why Leeds have been able to fire in 48 shots across their last three matches since the 3-1 win over Wolves, in which Calvert-Lewin opened his United account by heading home the team’s first open-play goal of the campaign.
Since then, though, he has not managed to ripple the net, meaning he has scored just once in his six Premier League outings so far, which comprises five starts and 450 minutes of pitch time.
Farke is keeping the faith in his star striker, underlining the need for teammates to keep creating chances for him. “He’s working really good for us in terms of pressing, his link-up play and holding the ball up,” he said ahead of Friday’s Elland Road clash with West Ham United.
“Yes, there’s a couple of situations he could have finished better in. There’s no doubt about that but he’s proven before that he’s a proven goal scorer and he will score goals, if he has chances.
“I’m happy to have Dominic and I’m pretty sure that it’s just a question of time and not a case of if he scores because I’ve no doubt that he will score.”
In the past 12 months, Calvert-Lewin has scored two goals and recorded one assist in 24 Premier League outings, of which 16 have been starts.
