Huijsen rejoins Real Madrid squad in training ahead of El Clásico

Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen was able to train with the rest of the group on Thursday and will be available when Los Blancos take on FC Barcelona in a decisive El Clásico this upcoming Sunday. Huijsen had suffered a mild calf injury during Spain’s training camp this FIFA break and missed the matches against Getafe and Juventus trying to recover in time for El Clásico.

Huijsen is an undisputed starter for Xabi Alonso and will certainly feature in the starting lineup alongside Eder Militao. His passing ability and his poise to distribute the ball from the back line will be crucial against Barcelona’s pressing.

Real Madrid will have an entire week off following El Clásico, so Xabi Alonso’s men will have time to regroup and stay fresh for what’s going to be a busy stretch of the schedule going forward. Carvajal, Alexander-Arnold and Ceballos are also expected to be available in El Clásico, although their presence in the lineup seems more questionable.
