Arsenal are aiming to win the Premier League title this season under the guidance of Mikel Arteta
Mikel Arteta’s side won 4-0 at home to Atletico Madrid last time out in the Champions League. Viktor Gyokeres scored twice against the La Liga outfit, whilst Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli also managed to get themselves on the scoresheet. The London outfit will be full of confidence at the moment as they look to keep their eye-catching run of form going against the Eagles this weekend.
Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber hailed by Gary Neville
Neville has delivered his verdict, as per The Overlap: “What I was thinking last night watching Arsenal, I was watching (Myles) Lewis-Skelly, obviously Timber played, you’ve got Ben White and (Riccardo) Calafiori, I thought all Arsenal’s full-backs are better than Liverpool’s, all four of them, that’s a big problem for Liverpool. Timber is the best full-back in the league at the moment.
“I think Timber is almost, in my mind, I would class as being… do you know the guy that plays for Real Madrid? (Dani) Carvajal. For me, he’s the best. And I think Timber’s the nearest to him at the moment, I see, in terms of being able to do that bit and do that bit, do the forward bit well enough, but definitely cuts everything off down his side.”
Regarding Gyokeres, he added: “He’s going to score 20 goals but in games and in moments that are not quite big goals. He’s going to contribute a lot. I think he does a good job up there.”
Arsenal latest regarding Jurrien Timber
Arsenal snapped up Timber just over two years ago to boost their defensive department. He initially struggled with injury during his first 12 months in England. Nevertheless, he has since become one of his current club’s most prized assets since his return.
The Holland international, who has 21 caps under his belt so far in his career, has made 62 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, 11 of which have come in this campaign, and he has scored four goals from the back. His contract expires in June 2028. He battles it out for a place in the starting XI with Ben White.
Timber rose up through the academy at Feyenoord before switching to Ajax as a teenager. He then went on to play 121 matches for the Eredivisie giants and scored six times. The Amsterdam side then sold him when Arsenal came calling and he hasn’t looked back since.
