Marcus Rashford has been in fine form since joining Barcelona on loan from Manchester United, and Alan Shearer believes the forward now has no future at Old Trafford

Alan Shearer believes Marcus Rashford has had to change his attitude while on loan at Barcelona from Manchester United. The England international joined the La Liga heavyweights on a season-long loan deal over the summer after Ruben Amorim made it clear he had no place in his plans at Old Trafford.
Barcelona have an option to make the switch permanent for £30million in 2026 and are said to be keen on keeping him beyond this campaign, albeit at a reduced fee. The 27-year-old has rediscovered his best form at the Camp Nou, bagging four goals and laying on six assists in all competitions under Hansi Flick this term.
His resurgence has earned him a spot back in the England setup. And Shearer has now delivered his assessment of Rashford's spell in Spain, insisting the academy product has no route back to M16 regardless of what unfolds.
"I don't think anyone ever denied the talent that Marcus Rashford has, it's just whether he had the desire or the hunger to go and produce that talent on the big stage," he told Betfair.
The former Newcastle striker also claimed Rashford 'got away' with certain behaviour at United and has been forced to sharpen up his approach.
"He knew moving to Barcelona that he couldn't get away with certain things which he might have got away with at Manchester United. Not with the big-hitters there and the manager of that team.
"I know they've got an incredible amount of players from the academy, but because of what the club is, I guess he'd gone there with the right attitude and shown everyone the ability we all knew he had.
"We saw that a few years ago when he got 30 goals in a season and he's showing that again now. It was just about unlocking it in him. But the ship has sailed for him to return to Man United."

Rashford netted twice as his side thrashed Olympiacos 6-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday evening. After the match, he revealed the prospect of featuring in El Clasico against Real Madrid this weekend played a major role in his summer switch to Barcelona.
"The Clasico is a great game and that's why I've come here, for this number of games," he said. "I am looking forward to it, I hope we win."
Rashford made it clear on Thursday night that he wants to remain at with Barcelona in the long term. "Oh yeah, for sure," he said, when asked whether he wants to stay.
"I'm enjoying this football club and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player it's an honour."
