In-form Marcus Rashford expresses desire to stay at Barcelona beyond loan spell

Barcelona have faced some challenges this season and, on most occasions, they have overcome most of them until now.

The Blaugrana suffered a brutal 4-1 defeat against Sevilla in La Liga, but they bounced back with wins over Girona and Olympiacos despite severe injury issues in their roster.

They are heading into the season's first El Clasico against Real Madrid with a 6-1 hammering against Olympiacos in Champions League where Marcus Rashford once again stepped up and scored a brilliant brace.

The England international has suddenly become a crucial player for Hansi Flick due to multiple injuries in attack. Given his current form, he could prove to be a crucial player for Barcelona ahead of the crucial clash.

Rashford has already been involved in nine goal contributions in 12 appearances for Barcelona since moving to Camp Nou on loan from Manchester United.

The 27-year-old has brought a lot of energy and versatility to this Barcelona side and in this phase of injury issues, he has risen to the occasion by making crucial goal contributions.

What did Marcus Rashford say about his life at Barcelona?

Rashford was always an afterthought for Barcelona this summer as they only approached him after they failed to sign Nico Williams.

The English forward, who spent half of last season on loan at Aston Villa was elated to move to Camp Nou albeit on a loan deal.

Following his performances this season, it seems like the Blaugrana may be tempted to sign him permanently by triggering the buyout clause of €30m ($34.8m).

Recently in an interview, Rashford spoke his heart out, expressing his desire of continuing at Camp Nou beyond this season.

"I'm enjoying this football club and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game," Rashford told ESPN. “Of course, I hope to stay here yeah for sure!

He highlighted how he has been at Man United for more than two decades of his career and desperately needed a change of environment.

"People forget this, but 23 years of my life was with Man United. Sometimes you just need a change. Barcelona move for whatever reasons it didn't happen in the past… now is my opportunity to make it happen at the best level."

While Barcelona fans are delighted with Rashford's addition to the team this summer, they will be over the moon if the Englishman turns out to be the difference maker for the Blaugrana in El Clasico.
