"So Good To Watch" - John Terry Reserves Special Praise For Newcastle Ace

Chelsea legend John Terry was quick to congratulate Anthony Gordon on his performance following Newcastle’s 3-0 win against Benfica.

The winger took to Instagram after the game, having scored the opener on Tuesday night, and writing in the comments, Terry made it known that he was a big fan of the 24-year-old:

“Some performance mate. Taking people on. Work rate. So good to watch.”

Gordon’s goal was followed up by a brace from fellow winger Harvey Barnes as Eddie Howe’s men secured a comfortable victory over Terry’s former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

Newcastle have made a great start to their European campaign

While they did lose their opening group fixture against Barcelona at St James’ Park, the Magpies were arguably unlucky to come away without a point.

Since then, they have picked up two very convincing wins, thrashing Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise 4-0 away from home at the start of October, before getting their second victory in a row versus Benfica on Tuesday evening.

Howe’s team will face La Liga side Athletic Club next up in Europe, which will be their third fixture at home out of four so far.

Gordon has been on fire in Europe this season

Newcastle have their no.10 to thank for having started their Champions League campaign so strongly.

Gordon has found the back of the net in all three matches so far, getting a late consolation against Barca, before grabbing a brace versus Union Saint-Gilloise, and opening the scoring against Benfica.

Fans will be hoping that the England international can start to translate that form into domestic games. He has yet to score or provide an assist in 5 Premier League games, having also drawn a blank in the Carabao Cup third round tie against Bradford City last month.
