Here are five moments which stood out from his press conference at Lancing.
### Welbeck for England?
The Albion head coach revealed he speaks from time to time with his compatriot and Three Lions counterpart Thomas Tuchel.
But it is not about individual players.
What could Welbeck offer England?
He says there are two aspects – he can “smell” a goal and is also very good within the squad off the pitch.
### Diego déjà vu
Last week we heard a possible injury for Diego Gomez was not serious and he would probably play against Newcastle.
This week he has confirmed the Paraguay man has recovered from a knock he took to the hip versus Newcastle.
When it was pointed out he had been spotted in training, Hurzeler replied with a laugh: “I think he will be also spotted tomorrow at Old Trafford!”
There were also [updates of sorts on Joel Veltman, Brajan Gruda and Kaoru Mitoma.](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/matchdaylive/25568004.fabian-hurzelers-man-utd-v-brighton-press-conference/?ref=ed_direct)
It wasn’t mentioned but we could actually see an unchanged XI.
### JP goes above and beyond
Jan Paul van Hecke is developing as a real leader within the group.
Hurzeler said he has learned a new term, discretionary effort, which means going over and above expectations.
He says van Hecke is an example of that.
As I think we can understand, he is a very honest and straight tlaker. Hurzeler refer to that as Dutch trait!

He wants van Hecke to develop that leadership aspect.
It probably goes without saying that he would like him to sign a new contract.
Hurzeler was then asked about that and said the focus is on the present - but he would love to see him build a legacy here.
### United go direct
Hurzeler has seen a difference in how Manchester United are playing this season.
He says they are now more direct and vertical under Amorim. More long balls for Mbeumo and Sesko. Trying to win second balls and then play wide with Diallo and Dalot. Get players attacking the box.
He also lists various individual stars - Fernandes, Sesko, Cunha, Mount but says there are more.
### Learning from Tuchel
Returning to his discussions with the England boss, Hurzeler says he learns a lot as a young head coach from talking to the England and former Chelsea boss.
“I really appreciate his opinion and how he is doing for the England national team. I congratulated him on qualifying for the World Cup and let’s see what England can achieve in this tournament.”
