Adam Aznou wins David Moyes over after what he did vs Iliman Ndiaye in Everton training

Adam Aznou is yet to make an impact on the pitch for Everton, but what he is doing in training has really impressed David Moyes.

After an impressive summer off the pitch in the market for Everton, the club have been forced to deal with some unwanted injury issues.

Jarrad Branthwaite has undergone hamstring surgery to solve his lingering issue which has kept him out in the opening months.

Aznou is another who started the term off with an injury issue, but has watched on from the bench in the last five Premier League games.

The youngster is having to bide his time on Merseyside before he is given the nod by Moyes to provide his influence on the pitch.

With Tottenham Hotspur making the trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday, Aznou appears to be working flat out at Finch Farm to earn himself an opportunity.

Having returned from his injury issue, Aznou was in action for Everton’s U21s during the international break.

Finally, Vitaliy Mykolenko has some backup for his spot at left-back after being heavily relied on as the only senior option on Merseyside.

Footage was shared by the club on Friday of Aznou and Iliman Ndiaye battling it out in a one-on-one duel at Finch Farm, and Moyes was loving it.

“Well done, Adam! Good. Love it, Adam! Well done!” the 62-year-old could be heard shouting in the background.

Pat Nevin thinks Ndiaye is good enough to play for Arsenal after what he saw at the weekend in the defeat to Manchester City.

The Senegal international is proving himself to be one of the hottest wingers in the league, and Aznou put up a strong fight in their training duel.

After being held by the 19-year-old left-back, Ndiaye was forced to lay the ball off to one of his teammates.

Aznou has been criticised by the German media for leaving Bayern Munich in the summer, but this training ground battle against one of the top wingers in the league must be a huge confidence boost.

Everton’s left-back faces huge Mohammed Kudus test

Whichever left-back gets the nod from Moyes on Sunday will face another in-form winger in Mohammed Kudus.

Just like Ndiaye and Jack Grealish, Kudus has proven a real issue for clubs across the league as he has led the way in successful take-ons.

Mohammed Kudus is the only player to complete 30 take-ons in Europe's top five leagues this season and has completed at least 11 more take-ons than any other Premier League player in 2025/26.

Everton fans were impressed with Aznou during pre-season when they came up against Manchester United in the States.

But it would be a big ask for him to come into the starting XI on Sunday for his debut.

Sticking with Mykolenko feels the likely option, but Aznou has certainly shown in training that he is capable of battling the best the league has to offer.
