Newcastle United agreed a contract extension with Sandro Tonali while he was banned from football for breaching betting regulations.
Sandro Tonali could pen his third Newcastle United contract in as many years to keep potential suitors at bay.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that the Italian had penned a “secret” extension during his absence for breaching betting regulations. Newcastle rallied behind Tonali during his darkest hour - and that faith has been repaid tenfold.
The 25-year-old has developed into one of the Premier League’s best midfielders and, since Alexander Isak’s exit, is the club’s prized asset. Fears over his future emerged during the international break, with Tonali admitting he might return to Italy one day.
