Alan Pace shares major Burnley concern – Big dream easier with Espanyol

Burnley owner Alan Pace has admitted he has concerns about ever getting the club into the top six and beyond. He believes that will be easier with new club Espanyol.

[Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/rcd-espanyol/20251024/1002556194/alan-pace-pasar-manchester-city.html) have an interview with the Burnley owner today. He’s on something of a press tour in Spain after taking charge of Espanyol last week.

Pace bought the Catalan club to add to his previous purchase of Burnley in 2020. A deal was finally signed last week, with the American holding a press conference to outline his plans.

He’s insisted that Espanyol and Burnley will remain separate entities, working in synergy rather than one being a ‘sister’ club to the other. That issue has caused problems for other multi-club ownership models across Europe.

Pace has been busy outlining his plans for his new purchase throughout this week. Most of this has been ambitious, including the latest.

He’s admitted that he wants Espanyol competing for the top six in Spain, something he thinks may be much more difficult to do with Burnley in the Premier League.

_“It’s like having two children; you can’t choose between the two,”_ he said when asked about which club he prefers.

_“But you always want the best for them. Our dreams here are to reach the top six in the country, but also to always try to get into Europe._

_“I’d like us to be able to do that at Burnley one day, but I think it’s a bit of a long-term thing. Who knows? They spend a lot more there.”_
