Player asked about Chelsea wanting him – Says he’s learning English already

Earlier this week, TuttoSport covered Chelsea interest in Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.

The newspaper reported the Blues are set to scout the Japan international in the match against Como on Saturday.

The 23-year-old is seen as an alternative to AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan. Buzz around Suzuki is now growing in Italy. The Parma player spoke to Corriere dello Sport about his life, career and future.

He was asked specifically about interest from the Blues and Milan.

The goalkeeper responded: “I want to become one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and I’m very focused on Parma and the World Cup.”

Suzuki also revealed that he is studying both English and Italian. He also spoke of how he places emphasis on physical training.

“I work out. Today, for example, I did some exercises with special glasses and alternating lights to improve my reflexes. I work out, as I was saying, and then I study English and Italian.”

He’s played seven times in Serie A this season, keeping two clean sheets. While he has a knack for making key saves, Suzuki still has weaknesses when he comes off his line.

This shows that he still has a long way to go. He is young and that is perhaps why Chelsea see a lot of potential in him. For now, the Blues might have to be patient about his progress at Parma.
