Maresca reveals return date for striker – and says he warned Chelsea star about his training

**Chelsea striker Liam Delap is set to be available to return next week, boss Enzo Maresca says.**

The forward has been out since August with a hamstring injury but [has returned to training with the team this week](https://hayters.com/chelsea-star-delap-very-close-to-returning-to-training/).

Saturday’s game against Sunderland will come too soon for the England youngster but Maresca believes he will be available for the EFL Cup game against Wolves on Wednesday.

“We don’t have any new injuries,” Maresca said.

“Liam took part in the session yesterday with the team for the first time, so he’s not going to be available for tomorrow game, but probably for the next match.”

“The schedule also can change a little bit, it depends how they improve or get worse. The first time they said to me that he could be available for the 25th of October, so today is 24th, 25th.”

Striker Marc Guiu started and scored in the Champions League game against Ajax on Wednesday and Maresca says he has been pleased with the improvement he is showing after some tough conversations.

“We had a chat with Marc two weeks ago, I told him that the way he was training I didn’t like and he needs to change,” he said. “He changes and he got a chance, so it is like that.

“He was not training well. In all the ways.”[](https://apply-creditcard.oceanfinance.co.uk/campaign/dual)
