NFL power rankings: AFC South week 8

Seven weeks of the 2025 NFL season have been completed. Each week, we’ll monitor every team in the AFC South with an eye towards their ability to compete for the divisional crown. Here’s how the four teams stack up after seven weeks of action.

1. Indianapolis Colts (6-1)

The Colts are third in the NFL in turnover margin (+7), have the NFL leading rusher and a quarterback who is the least sacked (6), and protect the ball with only 3 interceptions and no fumbles lost. While Indy has benefitted from an easy opening to their schedule to start the season, their style of play will keep them in games even against the toughest competition. The AFC South is their division to lose, and that doesn’t appear likely.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-3)

The Jaguars are sitting with a winning record, but the arrow is pointing down. The defense isn’t creating turnovers the last couple of weeks after almost averaging three a game over their 4-1 start to the season. The offense is without their starting tight end, their #1 receiver is struggling with drops and seems fearful going over the middle, and their first-round pick from this year hasn’t looked polished as a receiving product and hasn’t been on the same page with his quarterback.

3. Houston Texans (2-4)

Houston has one of the top defensive units in the NFL, but continues to get set up to fail by an offense that appears clueless. The Texans don’t get a break in their schedule as they face tough competition almost weekly. Unless they’re able to right the ship on the offensive side of the ball, they’ll struggle to finish with a winning record in 2025.

4. Tennessee Titans (1-6)

Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward (1) hands off to running back Tyjae Spears (2) during the first quarter against the New England Patriots at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025.

The Titans are in the running for the worst team in the NFL. They’re playing for the development of their youth and another top draft pick that they can throw in the mix to help this team in 2026 and beyond. They’ll struggle to match their record of 3-14 from 2024, with their best chances to win remaining on the schedule as games at Cleveland and home versus the New Orleans Saints. I’m not sure this team is good enough to beat either of those teams. The Week 17 battle against the Saints may be for the #1 pick unless the New York Jets have something to say about it.
