Manchester United are back in Premier League action this weekend as Ruben Amorim's side hunt for another win
Manchester United have won their last two games on the spin against Sunderland and Liverpool. They beat the latter 2-1 at Anfield last time out after goals by Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire. The Red Devils have risen up to 9th in the Premier League table after their first eight fixtures.
Ruben Amorim’s side are only two points off the top four after their recent upturn in form after a tough first couple of months. They are back in action this weekend with a home clash against Brighton and Hove Albion as they hunt for a third consecutive win. Here is a look at their predicted XI...
Manchester United predicted XI vs Brighton: goalkeeper and defence
United delved into the summer window to sign goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp. He has since made a positive impression at Old Trafford and has played in their last two matches ahead of Altay Bayindir. The 23-year-old is still getting to grips with life in his new country and league.
Maguire will be given the nod to start against Brighton after his heroics against Liverpool. He struck late against Arne Slot’s men to help his side pick up an impressive three points. The England international is set to start at the back again alongside Mathijs de Ligt.
Amad Diallo is a key player for the Red Devils and likes to get up and down the right flank, cutting in on his left foot. He has quality and is someone who they look to get on the ball as much as possible. On the other side, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Patrick Dorgu come into the team for his pace and power down the left instead of Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot to give the North West outfit more of an attacking threat in their starting XI.
Manchester United predicted XI vs Brighton: midfield and attack
United midfielder Casemiro gives them experience in the middle of the park. The Brazilian has divided opinion over recent years but he provides a bit of stability right now in the heart of the pitch. His presence allows the creative Bruno Fernandes to get on the ball more in front of him and create opportunities for their more attacking players.
Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha were snapped up in the last window from Brentford and Wolves respectively. They have both made decent starts for the Red Devils and are looking sharp. Mbeumo found the net early on against Liverpool and will be eager to add to his tally against Brighton if possible.
Mason Mount played in a false nine position against Liverpool and did well. However, Amorim has a big decision to make on what approach he wants to take against the Seagulls. It seems more likely that Benjamin Sesko will start up top as a more out and out striker. If that happens, Mount could drop into more attacking midfield role.
The ex-Chelsea man has enjoyed a new lease of life under Amorim recently and has been playing well recently. United need that physical presence up top though and that is what Sesko was brought in for. He left RB Leipzig to take on a new challenge in England.
