The Green Bay Packers are an enviable NFL franchise for several reasons. They have won the Super Bowl multiple times — the Super Bowl trophy itself is named after Vince Lombardi. Moreover, Green Bay has somehow managed to find long-term options under center, including Aaron Rodgers, who, for 15 years, served as the Packers’ full-time starting quarterback.
Rodgers succeeded Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre in Green Bay. Later on, Rodgers handed the baton to Jordan Love, who now calls the plays on the field for Green Bay, which will be facing Rodgers and the Pittsbrugh Steelers on Sunday.
That will be the first time that Rodgers and the Packers face off against each other since parting ways via a trade in 2023.
Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers wants to do one thing on Sunday involving Packers’ Love
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (10) thows downfield during the second quarter of their game against the Arizona Cardinals Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Among the themes of this showdown between the Packers and the Steelers is the quarterback matchup of Rodgers and Love. It’s easy to see why it’s an intriguing narrative, given that it has the obvious “past vs. present” flavor. When Green Bay selected Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Rodgers knew that it was just a matter of time before his stint with the Packers would end.
Still, Rodgers has nothing but appreciation for Love these days. He even wants to swap jerseys with his former understudy.
Via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic:
Aaron Rodgers on a Zoom with Packers reporters asked about jersey swapping after Sunday night’s game:
“At the top of my list would be J-Love.”
Of course, what Rodgers wants the most on Sunday is a win for the Steelers, who are coming off a 33-31 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Love and the Packers, on the other hand, beat the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday, 27-23.
