Nike x Oregon x Grateful Dead
Nike
I’m a relatively new Deadhead in terms of time listening, but I don’t know if I’ve ever fallen in love with a band’s music faster. One of my first Grateful Dead deep dives was their 8/27/72 live album from Veneta, Oregon, better known as the “Sunshine Daydream” show. It’s a masterpiece. The “Dark Star/El Paso” transition is insane. So when I saw that Nike was dropping a limited-edition University of Oregon “Grateful Ducks” collection, I knew I had to be ready to get mine before it all sells out. Shall we go, you and I, while we can?

The Grateful Dead and the University of Oregon have a long and storied intertwined history, in large part thanks to a series of shows the Dead played at Autzen Stadium in 1990. A new chapter of that relationship will be written this Saturday when Oregon will be wearing Dead-inspired tie-dye uniforms for the “Tie-Dye Out” in their game against Wisconsin.

The centerpiece of this collection? The Air Max 90 shoes inspired by those worn by Jerry Garcia at those 1990 shows. Full disclosure: Nike shock-dropped these earlier this week, and they sold out in minutes. If there are any more pairs available today, you’d better act fast:
