Marcus Rashford says the best finisher of all-time used to play for Manchester United

Marcus Rashford has been tasked with naming the best finisher in football history and he couldn’t overlook one of his former Manchester United teammates.

The connection between Marcus Rashford and Manchester United feels broken. The academy graduate fell out of favour under Ruben Amorim before being cast aside and sent on loan to Aston Villa and Barcelona.

Currently on loan at Barcelona, Rashford wants to stay and revealed previous talks to join the club earlier in his career. That sounds like there is no point of return for the England international at Old Trafford, but it doesn’t take anything away from the moment he shared with United fans for many years.

Rashford scored another Champions League brace for Barcelona in their 6-1 win over Olympiacos during the week. The United loanee will be aiming to go one step better when they take on Real Madrid in his first El Clásico meeting on Sunday.

Rashford is hoping to become the first Englishman to score for Barcelona in El Clásico since Gary Lineker.

Marcus Rashford names Cristiano Ronaldo as all-time best finisher

Rashford has carried out a lot of media duties in the build-up to his first El Clasico.

On top of an exclusive interview with ESPN, Rashford has done a TikTok challenge with the same outlet, naming some of the best players he has ever seen.

Rashford was asked a series of questions on the best player from each category: finisher, goalkeeper, dribbler, most charismatic and the overall best player of all time.

The 27-year-old was asked to name the best finisher of all time first, and he went with former United star Cristiano Ronaldo, who recorded an incredible tally of 450 goals during his time at Real Madrid.

Ronaldo also scored 18 goals against Barcelona during that time, which is something none of those cheering Rashford on this weekend will want to be reminded about.

Only time will tell if Rashford can take any inspiration from Ronaldo when he lines up to face Los Blancos.

Rashford also named former United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the most charismatic player of all time. He was unable to pick between Ronaldo and Lionel Messi for the best player of all time question.

Cristiano Ronaldo holds an impressive El Clasico record

While Rashford will have dreams of replicating Ronaldo’s El Clasico goalscoring, he has some way to go to match his 18 goals in the fixture.

Ronaldo is the only player to score in six consecutive Clasicos between 2011-12 and 2012-13.

That will take some beating and, in Rashford’s case, would require a long-term contract at the end of his current Barcelona loan.

Ronaldo is now proving that age is only a number as he continues scoring goals for Portugal and Al-Hilal at the age of 40.
