Patriots, Bills, Jets urged to battle for trade for $110 million wide receiver

A few AFC East teams could use a new wide receiver, and they've got a connection to potentially make it happen.

Across the way in the NFC North, the Chicago Bears have a player they wouldn't mind getting rid of.

The Sporting News' senior NFL writer Vinnie Iyer sees a match.

Iyer wants the Bears to unload D.J. Moore to one of the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills or New York Jets.

All three have connections to Moore from his Carolina days.

And in trading Moore, the Bears would free up more work for their younger pass catchers.

"Between the Bills (Joe Brady), Patriots (Thomas Brown) and Jets (Scott Turner) all with ties with Moore's Panthers past, one team needs to free Moore out of Chicago so the team can move with a dynamic duo of youngsters Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III and also use its tight end sets more for Ben Johnson," Iyer writes.

Moore is in the second year of a four-year, $110 million contract, so he wouldn't come cheap for the checkbook. But because of that salary, it's unlikely Moore would cost a ton in actual trade return.

The Pats have had receivers emerge beyond Stefon Diggs but surely wouldn't mind another strong one. The Bills definitely have a WR need. The Jets have nothing beyond Garrett Wilson, who is hurt right now, too.

Chicago could always hold onto Moore and figure he's an overpriced secondary option still with a lot of talent. The Bears don't have a ton of incentive to take weapons away from Caleb Williams.

But if Moore is on the move, the AFC East could be the destination.
