Thomas Frank provides latest injury update on Tottenham defender ahead of Everton clash

Thomas Frank has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur will be without their skipper, Cristian Romero, for Sunday's Premier League clash against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Romero picked up a minor adductor injury ahead of the loss to Aston Villa and missed the previous two games.

The Argentine was initially named in the starting line-up against Villa, but he was later removed after picking up an injury during the warm-up, with Kevin Danso replacing him.

Ahead of the clash against Everton, Frank told reporters: "Cuti just walked out on the grass running [with] some of the performance guys. So positive, progressing, no time frame, but I don't expect it to be a longer one.”

Along with Romero, the Spurs boss will be without left-back Destiny Udogie, who has not featured since picking up a knee injury on international duty, and Dominic Solanke as well.

Udogie has yet to return to training, but Frank is hopeful the defender will not be out for long.

Solanke has not started a game all season and has missed action for two months now, but Frank has confirmed that the former AFC Bournemouth striker is progressing following his ankle surgery last month.

Frank's tenure at the club has been dominated by injuries so far, with Spurs missing the services of Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison, both out with long-term knee injuries.

It is unclear when Solanke can return, and with Randal Kolo Muani struggling to settle in, Spurs are short of quality in the attacking areas.

Odobert injury scare?

Luckily for Frank, other attackers such as Richarlison, Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus and Wilson Odobert have stepped up in recent games.

To make matters worse, it has been reported that Odobert is doubtful for this game after he picked up an injury in Wednesday's 0-0 draw against Monaco in the Champions League.

In case the 20-year-old misses out, Wales international Brennan Johnson is likely to replace him in the starting lineup against the Toffees.
