Defender Inès Belloumou has received an international call-up for Algeria, who face Cameroon in the second round of 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifying later this month.
The two nations will meet twice during the October international window, with the first leg scheduled for Thursday 23 October at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran, Algeria (7pm BST). The return fixture follows on Tuesday 28 October in Douala, Cameroon, kicking off at 2.30pm GMT.
Belloumou played a key role in Algeria’s dominant 8–0 aggregate victory over South Sudan in the opening qualification round, helping Les Fennecs comfortably book their spot in this decisive stage.
A former France U23 international, Belloumou changed her national allegiance to Algeria midway through last season and made her senior debut at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The 24-year-old impressed throughout the tournament, helping her team advance from Group B without conceding a goal. Algeria’s defensive resilience carried into the quarter-finals, where they drew 0–0 with Ghana before being narrowly eliminated on penalties.
After spending last season on loan with Lazio and Malmö FF, Belloumou returned to east London in the summer and has since featured four times across all competitions for West Ham United Women.
