Manchester City interest in player “certified” – Put out the feelers as transfer race heats up

Manchester City are in the running for FC Köln rising star Said El Mala. Their interest in the youngster has been “certified”.

That’s according to Sport 1, relaying information from Bild reporter Tobias Altschäffl in the podcast ‘Bayern Insider.’

They explain that there is a real transfer race developing for El Mala at this moment in time. He’s a rising star for Köln and was already targeted by Brighton in the summer.

The Seagulls saw a €20m bid rejected. That was seen as an attempt by them to get ahead of potential competition for the youngster.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have since put the ‘feelers’ out for the 19-year-old. Sport 1 say that a number of top European club have contacted El Mala’s parents and his agent. More than ten have spoken to El Mala’s camp in recent weeks.

None are named specifically but Altschäffl says that Manchester City may be one of them. According to him it is “certified” that Manchester City have put out their feelers. Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with an interest.

El Mala’s agent, who has refused to be named, recently denied rumours about Bayern in the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger newspaper. But the reality is that they, and others, including Manchester City, have taken notice of his client.
