Jets Make Unfortunate Decision on Garrett Wilson, Sauce Gardner for Week 8

The New York Jets are currently 0-7 on the season, and the team might fall to 0-8 in Week 8. On top of the team’s struggles, they have made an unfortunate decision on stars Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner.

Wilson has been dealing with a knee injury that he sustained in Week 6. After missing Week 7 due to the injury, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has already ruled him out for Week 8.

Gardner has also been dealing with a concussion that he sustained in Week 7 in the fourth quarter. He remains in concussion protocol, and Glenn has already ruled him out as well.

The Jets are facing the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8 and will have to do so without two of their most important stars. A loss here will not only doom New York’s chances of turning things around for a playoff run, but it might also propel the front office to make some big moves regarding the trade deadline.

There has been plenty of chatter regarding star running back Breece Hall. Despite the Jets brass stating they have no interest in trading him, and Hall saying he wants to remain with the team, things could change rapidly in the next week.

Even Jets owner Woody Johnson spoke out about the issues with the team, especially with Justin Fields, who was benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor. The quarterback situation has not become any clearer, as Glenn has yet to state who will start for the team moving forward.

The other potentially concerning issue for the Jets is that Taylor is also currently questionable with a knee injury. Should he not be able to suit up, Fields would return under center by default.

Simply put, the Jets are a bit of a mess currently, and all signs are pointing to the team potentially being big sellers at the trade deadline. Should they move Hall, that would all but guarantee that the team is headed for a reset in 2026.

Regarding their big injuries, Wilson may return to action sometime in the next few weeks. Gardner could clear concussion protocol as soon as Week 9.
