It has been almost two months since the most turbulent, controversial and, be honest, draining transfer saga of the summer reached its conclusion. Alexander Isak - now persona non grata on Tyneside - finally got his dream move to Liverpool.
The Reds were sitting rosy at the top of the Premier League before Isak’s arrival. Performances had not been great but the Reds still sat top of the tree before their £130million outlay.
However, they have now been dethroned off the top spot by Arsenal, losing four games on the bounce before a Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt. A gift of a Carabao Cup goal against Southampton is all Liverpool have to show for their British record investment from eight games - with Isak now suffering a groin injury.
Newcastle have also endured a tricky start to the campaign - at least domestically. On a positive note, a midweek win over Benfica helped weather the storm from last Saturday’s defeat to Brighton.
That has not stopped Toon supporters from hate-watching every second of Isak’s demise at Liverpool. But how do stats boffins Opta believe both clubs will move forward from now until the end of the season? NewcastleWorld has profiled their latest predictions below.
