Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen isn’t having the best time in the 2025 NFL season. After a promising 4-0 start, the Bills have lost two consecutive games against teams that were weaker than them on paper.
The reigning MVP is returning to the field on Sunday after being free in Week 8. After suffering back-to-back losses, he received a piece of advice from an unlikely source.

On Wednesday, the quarterback revealed his maternal grandmother shared a few words of encouragement for Allen.
“My grandma called me and was like, ‘I just want to see you smile,’” Allen said.

The Bills lost their unbeaten streak to the New England Patriots in Week 5. The Patriots got an upset win at Highmark Stadium in primetime to make a statement in Drake Maye’s second season.
The Atlanta Falcons worsened the situation in Week 6, as they limited Allen and Co. to just 14 points. The playmaker admits that it’s hard to be happy when you’re losing.

“It’s no fun obviously, losing. And maybe that’s why. It’s a lot easier to smile when you’re winning,” Allen said.
“A lot of people look at this position, they draw sometimes strength from it, or can be inspired by this position,” he added. “So it’s going out there and obviously working extremely hard and doing my job and leading from the front. But also having energy and juice, and not putting my head in the sand.”
The Bills are one of the teams whose championship windows appear to shrink every season. Allen has tried over and over to lead them to the Super Bowl without success and many think 2025 might be one of the final chances.
In six games, the quarterback has gone 122 of 178 for 1,397 yards and 11 touchdowns against four interceptions and 12 sacks. On the ground, he’s carried the ball 46 times for a 254-yard gain and three touchdowns.
Buffalo will clash against the Carolina Panthers in Week 8. This could be a good opportunity to turn things around.
