Crysencio Summerville posts nod to Leeds United as he prepares for Elland Road return with West Ham

Crysencio Summerville is set to make his first appearance back at Elland Road since leaving Leeds for West Ham in August 2024.

The Netherlands U21 international currently finds himself below Leeds in the Premier League after one goal and four assists in 28 appearances for the Hammers so far – with his £25m switch to east London yet to work out.

However, Leeds fans will need no reminder of what the talented Crysencio Summerville can do after 25 goals and 13 assists in 89 games for the Whites – and the Dutchman has acknowledged his time at Elland Road ahead of the game on Instagram.

Crysencio Summerville includes acknowledgement of Leeds in West Ham preview post

The West Ham No.7 included a nod to his time in Yorkshire when posting a preview on Instagram, adding a photo of himself in the Leeds shirt as well as one of him in claret and blue.

It was a nice reminder from Summerville – who admires Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – that he represented the Whites despite now arriving at Elland Road as an opponent, ahead of a match his side really need to win if Nuno Espirito Santo is to ease relegation fears in east London.

The 23-year-old did, however, have the song ‘Born Winner’ by Burna Boy playing in the background of his video, a potential warning to Leeds that he and West Ham are not in Yorkshire to mess around, and have every intention of leaving with three points in the bag.

Jayden Bogle poses an unknown threat to Crysencio Summerville

Having started exclusively on the left flank for West Ham this season, the man born in Rotterdam is set to go up against Jayden Bogle on Friday night.

Crucially for Daniel Farke, the defender was only signed from Sheffield United two weeks after Summerville left for West Ham, meaning he hardly came up against the Englishman in training at Thorp Arch and missed out on the chance to learn how best to beat the right-back.

Bogle has also never come up against Summerville – who is on a goal drought – for another club, so the Leeds No.2 has a fantastic chance to stamp his authority over the winger in a first meeting between the pair.
