Newcastle United want Tino Livramento to sign a new contract, having fended off interest from Manchester City.
While the summer was dominated by Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak, he was not the only player who Newcastle United were trying not to sell.
Geordie Boot Boys understand that Manchester City wanted to buy Tino Livramento, only for the Magpies to turn down Pep Guardiola’s advances.
Rather than sell him, Eddie Howe plans to keep the 22-year-old at St James’ Park for as long as possible. His current deal runs until 2028, but Newcastle United want him to sign an extension.

Tino Livramento appreciates Newcastle United’s faith
Geordie Boot Boys understand that the club have held talks with Livramento’s representatives about extending his stay on Tyneside, as they aim to reward him for his spectacular form in black and white.
The defender is one of Newcastle’s most reliable players, having been asked to operate at right-back and left-back throughout his Toon career since arriving in 2023 for £32million.
The Magpies took a slight risk in signing Tino Livramento after his ACL injury at Southampton, but it is a risk that has massively paid off.
That is not lost on the player himself, with the Athletic reporting that Livramento is ‘appreciative of the faith’ shown in him by the club.

Hopefully that appreciation, combined with the trajectory of Newcastle United and a suitable pay rise, convinces the England international to extend his contract.
Tino Livramento injury update
Newcastle United are currently without one of their star defenders, with Livramento ruled out due to a knee injury. He was stretchered off during the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal, and there were fears that his season could be over.
Fortunately, it is only a short-term injury for Livramento. While it is a blow being without him, the situation could have been much worse.
Livramento’s recovery is going well, with Eddie Howe providing another positive update on his rehab ahead of Newcastle’s game against Fulham.

While Newcastle have coped throughout Livramento’s absence, it will be great to have him available again.
He offers so much versatility, having proven to be just as good at left-back as he is right-back. He is invaluable to Eddie Howe, and is very much deserving of a massively improved contract at St James’ Park.
