There aren't many NBA players who look like Xavier Tillman.
The Boston Celtics' center is hefty and rocks the shaved-head look.
But hey, he's made it to the NBA. It clearly works for him.
And these days, Tillman is a bit more important to Boston than he used to be. The Celtics let Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford and Luke Kornet all go this offseason. Tillman is firmly in the center rotation.
And with Luka Garza hurt now, too, Tillman is crucial behind starting center Neemias Queta heading into the Celtics' second game of the season, on Friday night against the New York Knicks.

Where did Xavier Tillman come from?
Xavier Tillman grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and then attended Michigan State, where he was Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2020.
He was the No. 35 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and made his NBA debut that season for the Memphis Grizzlies.
Tillman was traded to the Celtics on Feb. 7, 2024, and won a ring in his first spring with Boston. He re-signed with the Celtics after that season.
In his first full Boston season in 2024-25, Tillman played in 33 games, averaging just 1.0 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.
His role is definitely due for an increase in 2025-26 with all the departures, and Boston will need Tillman to be sturdy and steady off the bench. In the season opener, he had four points, seven rebounds and two steals.
