Chiefs head coach Andy Reid admitted that Kansas City will have a tough time trying to contain the Washington Commanders on both sides of the ball.

Before the Chiefs' 'Monday Night Football' showdown with Washington, Reid recognized that the Commanders are a "good football team" despite their numerous injuries this season.

Earlier in the week, head coach Dan Quinn confirmed that star quarterback Jayden Daniels would be sidelined for the game while recovering from a minor hamstring strain, and defensive end Dorance Armstrong will sit out the rest of the 2025 season due to a knee injury.

Despite not facing the Commanders at full-strength, Reid insisted that head coach Dan Quinn's team still presents a serious challenge. "Look forward to the challenge of playing Washington," he told reporters on Thursday.

"We know they're a good football team, a veteran group of players that are good football players. And they've got a head coach that I consider right at the top of his profession at this time. He's as good as anybody, and then he's got good coordinators there. Offensively, defensively, special teams, they've got explosive players. They've got good guys up front on both sides of the ball."

Jayden Daniels won't be on the field against Kansas City

With just under 12 minutes left in the third quarter of the Commanders' 44-22 defeat to the Dallas Cowboys, Daniels took an awkward fall to the ground while being sacked by Cowboys pass rusher Shemar James.

The quarterback stayed down on the turf for several moments but eventually managed to hobble off the field on his own and head into the blue medical tent. Trainers later accompanied him to the locker room where he was ruled out for the remainder of the second half.

While Quinn voiced confidence that Daniels' injury isn't thought to be serious or lasting, the Commanders chose to play it safe and make sure the 24 year old doesn't aggravate his hamstring against the Chiefs.

With Daniels sidelined, seasoned quarterback Marcus Mariota will take the helm under center against the Chiefs. Reid and his team know the 31 year old all too well, as he led the Tennessee Titans to a stunning 22-21 comeback victory over Kansas City in an AFC Wild Card matchup back in January 2018.

"Mariota, we know [he] has come in here and won a game," Reid said. "So we get it, that he's a good football player. And we don't slight that at all."

The Oregon standout will also have several crucial offensive weapons available, with wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel - both of whom missed Week 7 - being listed as full participants in Thursday's practice.

Focusing on the Commanders' defense, Reid stated: "That front, we've played against some crazy fronts here, so it's different than year's past. This group is right there, I mean, that front is an explosive bunch. And their pass game, they're as good as anybody at rushing the passer. So we'll have our work cut out for that. And then their linebacking crew is good. They've been banged up a little bit on the back end but I think they're starting to get people back and kind of in a place where they want them."
