Leeds United 2-1 West Ham
Areola:6 Probably the one player not deployed out of position. His save fell to the feet of Aaronson to score early on. For most of the night Areola’s handling was assured.
Scarles:2 Deployed at right back and lost his man after only three minutes as West Ham went 1-0 down. Only lasted 20 mins as he fell awkwardly with a shoulder injury following a rare Hammers attack.
Todibo:5 I’m sorry to say that Todibo is just a poor defender. Possibly could have reacted better to the first two goals which weren’t really his fault. It’s more an issue of lethargy and an inability to sense danger.

Kilman:6 Not the horror show on Monday night but West Ham were out of the game after 14 mins. Ultimately, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team don’t seem to be any better at defending corners so any improvement from open play was negated.
Leeds United 2-1 West Ham: Nuno went for another experimental line-up at Elland Road
Wan Bissaka:5 Brought good energy to left back but not entirely sure what he was doing there. Certainly did very little to stop the opener at Elland Road as he just stood with his arms in the air.
Soucek:3 Further forward than on Monday which unfortunately left Irving on his own in midfield on occasion. Missed a header from 6 yards just before half time. It felt like a big miss from a chance Soucek would usually take.
Irving:4 I feel sorry for Irving. Ampadu was able to outpace him with ease as the midfield predictably failed to function. Put in plenty of effort in a Hammers display that at least had a bit more fight. At one point Aaronson managed to dribble past Irving, Soucek and Paqueta before striding through midfield and hitting the bar.
Diouf:4 Started the game at left wing then moved to left back. Some of his defending is highly dodgy as he allows opponents to get goal side too easily. Produced a couple of crosses but slim pickings.
Paqueta:5 Allowed Joe Rodon to get the run on him as Leeds scored their second from a corner to go 2-0 up after only 14 mins. Had a goal ruled out for offside and did show a glimmer of quality with a mesmerising dribble past a number of Leeds players.
Bowen:5 Unlucky not to score with a scissor kick from his central position. More involved than against Brentford. As captain he really should have dealt with Paqueta more robustly as the Brazilian almost talked himself into a red card. Very nice chipped cross assisted Fernandes in the 89th min.
Summerville:4 Started on the right but moved to the left after the reshuffle forced by Scarles injury. Buzzed around a bit in the first half without really threatening. Did put in a shift to try and help out defensively.

Substitutes
Wilson:4 On for the injured Scarles after 22 mins. There was a slight improvement but whoever decided to go into this season without buying a decent striker made a very bad call. Tried a flamboyant finish from a decent Wan Bissaka shot.
Potts:6 64th min sub for Irving and the Irons first corner of the game followed shortly afterwards.
Fernandes:6 Swapped for Soucek and made an improvement aside from a shocking freekick. Scored a very good flicked header albeit too little too late.
Magassa:5 77th min swap for Summerville as part of a double change.
Walker Peters:5 Replaced Wan Bissaka.
