A lot of people are already claiming that Victor Wembanyama is bulldozing his way to becoming the greatest basketball player of all time. And I'm one of them. This guy is sick in the head in the best way possible. And when he blocks shots (which he really seems to enjoy), it often looks like a dad playing with his son in the backyard. His swat of Dereck Lively II on Tuesday was the latest example of that phenomenon:

I know Wemby is taller than most other NBA players. But when he blocks shots like this, it looks like he's about four feet taller than they are. His arm just keeps extending! Dereck Lively is 7-foot-1. How can a human being block his shot down? It's not fair! None of this is fair! But it's great TV, so please don't stop it any time soon.
Victor Wembanyama is manhandling the league
I don't want to pick on Dereck Lively, who is a very good NBA player, because Wembanyama does this to everyone. No one is safe, and no one is spared. We're really close to Wemby being such an unprecedented force in the paint that opposing teams completely stop trying to attack him. Somehow, we're not there yet, so in the meantime, we will be enjoying blocks like these. The four-point play on the other end wasn't a bad touch, either.
We've also already reached the point in Wemby's career where he has numerous stats that make you ask if that's actually real, like him having a block in 86 straight games, the longest active streak... by 77 games.
Most consecutive regular season games with a block (active streaks):
86 - Victor Wembanyama
9 - Zach Edey
8 - Walker Kessler
7 - Donovan Clingan
7 - Anthony Edwards
7 - Myles Turner
7 - Kyle Filipowski
7 - De’Andre Ayton pic.twitter.com/Btc9wojOiG

Or that he led the league in total blocks last season... and he played 46 games. A half-season of Wemby is a better rim protector than any other player in the current NBA. A full season of Wemby is perhaps a better rim protector than any player in NBA history. Or that he's never not averaged 20 & 10 for a season in his career, and it doesn't seem like that will change for the next decade-plus, either.
There's a point in young hooper's lives when they finally defeat their dad in 1-on-1, and it's cathartic. Unfortunately, opposing players will have to wait about 15 years before they can get the better of Wemby in the paint. Until then, we're going to see a lot of blocks like this, which feel like they should be punctuated with Wemby asking, "Who pays the bills in this household?!"
