Virginia McCaskey advances on Pro Football Hall of Fame candidate list

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Virginia McCaskey owned the Chicago Bears for decades, and now she could be heading to Canton, Ohio.

The late Bears owner is among 21 finalists still in the running for the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2026.

The Hall will narrow down the list again next month.

McCaskey passed away in February at the age of 102 after a lifetime dedicated to the team her father, George Halas, built.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame shared the following list of remaining candidates:

"The Hall's Contributor Blue-Ribbon Committee trimmed an original list of 32 nominees to these 21 individuals: K.S. "Bud" Adams, Roone Arledge, Howard Cosell, John Facenda, Mike Giddings, Ralph Hay, Frank "Bucko" Kilroy, Don Klosterman, Eddie Kotal, Robert Kraft, Virginia McCaskey, John McVay, Clint Murchison, Art Rooney Jr., Clark Shaughnessy, Seymour Siwoff, Amy Trask, Jack Vainisi, Lloyd Wells, John Wooten and Buddy Young."
