Paul George injury struggles continue; 76ers forward remains out through weekend

Outside of an impressive outing from the guard combination of Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe, injuries have continued to be a problem for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Jared McCain (thumb) and Trendon Watford (hamstring) will remain sidelined with injuries through the weekend, and Joel Embiid (four points and six rebounds in 20 minutes) definitely didn't look like himself in the 76ers' season opener.

Meanwhile, questions remain on the status of Paul George after he underwent knee surgery this offseason.

Paul George ruled out for weekend game vs. Hornets

According to CBS Sports, Paul George is still recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery, a procedure he had in July.

Although he's returned to peace with he 76ers, George hasn't received the green light to take the court for his 2025-26 debut. His next opportunity to play will be in a Monday matchup against the Orlando Magic.

Since signing a four-year, $211.58 million contract in free agency with Philadelphia before the start of the 2024-25 season, George has appeared in just 41 games for the 76ers, averaging 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.8 steals while shooting 43% from the field.

The 35-year-old forward hasn't lived up to expectations since joining his fourth team in his career. He will look to get back on track in averaging over 20 points a game, something he did every season from 2015 to 2024.
