Ravens Make Shocking Pro-Bowl Change at Quarterback Prior To Bears Matchup

The Baltimore Ravens (1-5) will host the Chicago Bears (4-2) on Sunday. Needless to say, Baltimore is desperate to string together a few wins in an attempt to save their season. Chicago is looking to keep pace with the Green Bay Packers (4-1-1) and Detroit Lions (5-2) in their own division.

It would appear that Baltimore is pulling out all the stops in an attempt to win this one.

Following Lamar Jackson’s hamstring injury in Week 4, Baltimore’s offense has not looked the same. They are hoping that a new addition will fix that:

Backup quarterbacks Cooper Rush and Tyler Huntley have split duties under center, and the unit’s production has dipped in key moments.

Jackson’s mobility and arm talent are central to the Ravens’ identity, and as they prepare for a crucial Week 8 matchup, questions about his recovery continue to shape the team’s outlook and offensive planning.

For the first time since suffering the hamstring injury, Jackson was a full participant in practice this week and was officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. The development marks a significant step forward, and head coach John Harbaugh noted that the team will evaluate Jackson’s response to consecutive days of full practice before making a final call.

When healthy, Jackson transforms Baltimore’s attack—his ability to extend plays and create mismatches has long been the cornerstone of the Ravens’ offense. Before his injury, he ranked among the league leaders in passer rating (130.5), throwing for 869 yards, 10 touchdowns and one interception in four games.

As the league anticipates Jackson’s potential return to action this week, Baltimore announced that Huntley has been signed to the team’s 53-man roster.

Huntley, 27, has spent most of his career with the Ravens and is well-acquainted with their offensive system. Over 26 career appearances and 14 starts, he has thrown for 2,854 yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He spent last season with the Miami Dolphins, appearing in five games and throwing for 829 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.

Huntley, who has now played five seasons in Baltimore, has proven dependable in relief, stepping in during previous absences by Jackson. His only appearance this season came in the Ravens Week 6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, where he was brought in to replace Rush.

His addition gives the Ravens provides options at quarterbacks as Jackson continues to work his way back.
