What did you recovery look like? Did you go back to Brazil?
Yeah, I was there a couple of times. The first time for a few weeks, and after that I spent most of the summer back there, but it wasn’t a holiday! I was training, working every day, but it was amazing to be back home at that time because we also had another baby in the summer. That was while we were at home back in our city [Sao Paulo], so that was amazing to be able to spend that time with my family.
Obviously, if you asked me whether I want to be injured, I would say no, never. But like I said, I think it was all prepared from God. That's what I believe, because I was in my best moment back when the injury happened. I was scoring, I was playing well, I was getting my fitness back, my confidence, everything, and then it happens. At the moment it happened I wasn’t thinking like that, I was frustrated, but after a few weeks I realised what was happening, and I had to use that time to enjoy being with my baby and to prepare myself fully to come back.
Thinking back to the time you got injured, you were in great form, and you had scored six goals in four starts. then you go from one extreme to another in terms of emotion...
I always believe in myself. I’ve had a few tough moments since I arrived here, but also I had great moments here as well, where I was playing a lot and in good shape. Even in games when I wasn’t scoring I was opening space and running in behind. But unfortunately, I picked up some injuries, and we cannot control that.
But this one is the biggest injury I’ve had in my life, and it came when I was living my best moment outside the pitch. By that I mean I was preparing well, feeling chilled, eating well, sleeping well, recovering well and then it
happens. So that's why I say that we couldn’t expect it.
