After a full week of preparation, Manchester United return to Premier League action on Saturday as they host Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford (5.30pm kick-off).
United will go into the game full of confidence, following last weekend’s 2-1 away win over rivals Liverpool. That victory means that the team won back-to-back Premier League games for the first time under Ruben Amorim since his appointment last year.
They will be hoping to make it three wins in a row this weekend. The win moves United up into ninth place in the Premier League table with Brighton one place and one point below them.
But going into the match, Amorim will be sweating over the fitness of a couple of players. Centre-back Harry Maguire was the hero at Anfield, scoring the winning goal with six minutes of normal time remaining.
However, Amorim has confirmed that the defender is a doubt for the game against Brighton after picking up a knock. It’s a similar situation for midfielder Mason Mount who has started the last two games.
"The squad is fine,” Amorim said in his pre-match press conference. "We have some doubts, we had some issues in the week with Harry Maguire and Mason Mount. Knocks, nothing serious and we will see tomorrow.”
One player who will definitely be unavailable is defender Lisandro Martinez. The Argentine is stepping up his recovery from an ACL injury and has returned to training, but still needs a bit longer.
"Licha is out,” Amorim confirmed. “He trained really well.
“He was on the next pitch and I was watching. He's training really well, the knee is looking well but I don't want to say a specific week [for his return] and then it depends on Licha, whether he wins the spot."
It’s not just United with injury doubts for the game. Brighton could have up to six players missing.
Long-term absentees Adam Webster and Jack Hinshelwood will be unavailable. Both are recovering from ligament injuries.
Solly March is also expected to be on the sidelines, with a return coming later this year.
There is, however, better news for Brighton on other players. Fabian Hurzeler has confirmed Brajan Gruda, Kaoru Mitoma and Joel Veltman are all close to returns.

“They're all close to the team, so maybe one or two of them might be available for tomorrow," he said in his pre-match press conference. “They don't have big issues, they don't have anything serious.
“I can't say that they all will be available, I can't say that they won't be available. We have to see how it goes today and then we have to make a decision.”
The Brighton boss also delivered positive news on midfielder Diego Gomez who was forced off the pitch during Brighton’s 2-1 win over Newcastle last weekend. He was spotted in training ahead of Saturday’s game, to which Hurzeler replied:
“I think he will also be spotted tomorrow at Old Trafford! He will be available to start.”
