Liverpool ended a losing streak of four matches in all competitions with a 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Wednesday and will hope to get another positive result in the Premier League this weekend.
Arne Slot’s men are up against Brentford on matchday nine of the English top-flight at 20:00 local time tonight as they look for three crucial points to keep the pressure on Arsenal and Manchester City in the title race.
Here is a look at Liverpool’s potential starting eleven for the clash at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Goalkeeper – With Alisson Becker yet to be fully fit, Giorgi Mamardashvili is expected to be preferred in goal.
Defenders – Jeremie Frimpong suffered an injury in the Champions League, so Dominik Szoboszlai might fill-in at right back once more, whereas Andy Robertson could drop out and make way for Milos Kerkez on the left side of the back four.
Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk are expected to start for the ninth time together in the Premier League in as many outings.
Changes in midfield and on the wings
Midfielders – Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch did not start in the Champions League game on Wednesday, but might come back into the team in the double pivot against Brentford, whereas Florian Wirtz could also start at number 10 having provided assisted twice against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Given that Alexander Isak is likely to drop out owing to a minor injury issue, Mohamed Salah might come in on the right wing, whereas Cody Gakpo, who has scored in his last three matches, could feature on the left flank again.
Forward – After scoring against his former club in the Champions League, Hugo Ekitike might return to the team as the leader of their line against Brentford.
Here is how Liverpool might look on paper.
