Ruben Amorim has finally responded to Arne Slot’s post-match comments after Manchester United came away from Anfield with a late win over Liverpool last weekend.
Manchester United beat Liverpool 2-1 to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time under Ruben Amorim.
The critics had been heavily critical of Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system for the past 11 months, but few faults were spotted a week ago as Harry Maguire found the back of the net with a header winner to take three points from the reigning champions.

However, Liverpool manager Arne Slot complained about United’s style of play at Anfield. The Dutch coach suggested United play in a low block and mainly use long balls, but he overlooked the fact that his team played more long balls (27) throughout the game than the Red Devils (18).
When Liverpool eventually ended their four-game run of defeats with a 5-1 win over Frankfurt in the Champions League, Slot made another dig at United’s approach under Amorim.
It was only a matter of time before the press pack asked Amorim for his thoughts on what Slot thinks about his approach to tactics as United head coach.

Slot has been trying to engage in a war of words with Amorim, but the Portuguese coach is having none of it. He, of course, can be excused because he has bigger fish to fry as United try to climb up the Premier League table.
United recorded their first win at Anfield since 2016, but Amorim knows that there is still plenty of room to improve. All he needs to do is look at the table to see United are sitting ninth.

On Friday, Amorim held a press conference to talk about the upcoming match against Brighton, but the reporters present were keen to hear his response to Slot’s comments.
“Liverpool is in the past, I don’t want to comment,” Amorim said ahead of Brighton’s visit to Old Trafford. “That is not important.
“Important is what Fabian [Hürzeler] said to try to understand what is going to happen [against Brighton].
“I understand everything. I am really pleased that the team can play different games.
“It was an important win, but I was the first one to say that we need to play better with the ball. So, I don’t care what Slot is saying, what people are saying about our team.
“I can evaluate my team and I am really clear that we should play better with the ball. We are going to try to do that in this game.”
Back-to-back wins not a big deal for Ruben Amorim
United fans hope the win over Liverpool marks the turning point for the season, as more consecutive wins would see United jump several places in the standings.
However, Amorim has stressed that winning two consecutive games is not a big deal because he wants more.
United can make it three wins in as many games against Brighton.
Amorim added: “We are always talking about that but that connects with the other question about the way we face competition,” Amorim said of that possibility.
“If you just think about that — that we are going to try to perform and put everything on the field — that is the most important thing.
“So, sometimes when you talk too much about turning points, it’s worse. Let’s take it naturally.
“We’ve won two games. It’s no big deal, it should have come sooner. Let’s go for the next game.”
