Manchester United welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to Old Trafford on Saturday night
Only one point sits between the two sides after eight games, with United winning their last two outings with victories over Sunderland and Liverpool in recent weeks.
United have had a poor record against the Seagulls in recent years, losing six of their last eight games against the south coast club. They were beaten 2-1 last August when Erik ten Hag was still manager and lost 3-1 at Old Trafford back in January after Amorim had been appointed.
Amorim has never won three games in a row since joining United but could change that against Brighton. Hurzeler was asked about that statistic in his pre-match press conference but did not want to get drawn into that conversation as he branded Amorim as “one of the best managers”
What Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler said about Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim
Asked why Amorim has struggled at United, Hurzeler said: “It’s not my job to comment on that. The only thing I can say is I'm really looking forward to competing against one of the best managers. I think he's one of the best managers.
“Of course he has not had an easy time in Manchester, but he has proved in the past how good he can be with his teams. I'm really looking forward to competing against him, against a really good team, we have to be ready.
“I don't know how the environment is there. Our main focus is on us, our main focus is on our performance. Our main focus is that we try to bring consistency into our performances because we were also not able this season to win two games in a row. We have to look at ourselves, to make us better.”
Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler discusses Man Utd style
The Brighton boss conceded in his press conference that United have several players who can change the game in a moment as he analysed what his side would come up against on Saturday night. United have proven more threatening in attack, with Bryan Mbeumo highlighted that threat at Anfield last week as he scored after just 63 seconds on the Red Devils’ way to victory.
He added: “I think they play a more direct, more vertical style. They play more long balls trying to target [Benjamin] Sesko, going with a lot of players for the second ball, trying to win the second ball and then continue on their wings, to try to attack the box with a lot of deep runs.
“They have a really good individual quality in their team. They can change the game with one action. Every player from them, especially in the front, can decide the game with one action. All of their players have great individual quality and therefore they're always a danger to us.
“We have to be alert for 90 minutes, no matter if you're in possession, out of possession or a set piece for us or against us, because they can score within every phase. I think that makes them so dangerous, this change of game.”
