Remember when Albion took on Manchester United in the Old Trafford snow?

The Seagulls visit Manchester United today for the ninth time in the Premier League, having lost the first five and won the last three.

But those stats do not include an FA Cup quarter-final played on a Saturday night back in the first Prem campaign, 2017-18.

Albion had lost the league game before Christmas by a 1-0 scoreline having had moments when it felt like they could grab a famous win.

The only goal came via a hopeful shot by Ashley Young which took a big deflection off Lewis Dunk.

The cup draw sent the Seagulls back to Manchester on a March weekend which saw the country swept by a late cold snap.

Snow was cleared from the pitch ahead of kick-off and there was another brief flurry at the time the teams walked out for action.

Romelu Lukaku gave United an early lead but Albion, fielding what could be termed their FA Cup side, should have levelled.

They had 12 efforts at goal to United's one in the second half with Jurgen Locadia unable to take any of his four chances.

Locadia’s selection was quite contentious given Albion had pretty much secured their top-flight safety after a run which included a home win over Arsenal.

Top-scorer Glenn Murray might have been a better pick to start the cup tie but he only went on as sub for the later stages.

As well as Locadia. Pascal Gross also went close before Nemanja Matic scored a late second for the hosts.

It was a certainly a night when the Albion faithful had to wrap up warm.

Boss Chris Hughton felt his side gave them something to enjoy before they made the arduous trip home, with the M40 and M25 down to single snowy tracks at some points due to the worsening overnight conditions.

Hughton said: "I was delighted with the performance.

“The only difference were the moments in front of goal and the quality they can produce.”

We also feature a picture from the following season’s league match because it shows a player we might see next Wednesday.

Viktor Gyokeres, now of Arsenal, was an unused sub when the Seagulls went down 2-1 at Old Trafford in 2018-19, with goals from Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford earning the points for a home side managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is also in shot. Gross replied for the Seagulls – who else?
