Chelsea faced Ajax in the Champions League in midweek and the game was full of incident with an early red card aiding the London side.
Chelsea ran out easy 5-1 winners in the tie even though the Dutch side kept things competitive for longer than Enzo Maresca would have liked. The first half was tight but ended 4-1.
Ajax kept Chelsea to just a goal in the 1st half with the game ending 5-1 with Chelsea scorers:
Marc Guiu 18 minutes
M. Caicedo 27 minutes
E. Fernández Penalty 45 minutes
Estêvão Penalty 45 minutes plus 6
T. George (48′)
Ajax replied with a Wout Weghorst Penalty 33 minutes.
Which new signings were picked by Maresca?
Alejandro Garnacho was picked in the squad for the game but Estêvão was preferred to start the game. Garnacho for his part had an interesting pitch map which will give Manchester United fans a good laugh.

There is a long time to go for Garnacho and he might have the last laugh! We’ll see if Ruben Amorim was right to let the Argentinian star leave.
