In the summer transfer window, Nottingham Forest were interested in RB Salzburg captain Mads Bidstrup.
He ended up staying at the Austrian club, where he’s played 13 times in all competitions this season.
Austrian journalist Aleksandar Andonov has been speaking to TipsBladet about the player. He made it clear the 24-year-old is increasingly a revered figure at RB Salzburg.
Andonov explained: “Mads Bidstrup is captain of Salzburg and therefore enjoys great respect in the squad and among the fans.”
It’s believed Bidstrup’s valuation has increased since a move to Nottingham Forest didn’t go through.
He said: “His contract was extended a few days ago and now runs until 2029. If another club were to make an offer, they could therefore demand more now. His recent performances have been stable but unspectacular, so there is room for improvement, especially with the ball.”
The midfielder has been a regular for Salzburg since his arrival from Brentford in 2023.
He also has Premier League experience from his time with the London club, where he played 14 times in all competitions.
Nottingham Forest will have been attracted by Bidstrup’s ability to win the ball back quickly.
That said, his development may have been hampered by the chaos at Nottingham Forest this season.
