West Ham make Brazilian defender top January target – €30m Hammers deal desire

West Ham are preparing for a busy January and have reportedly set their sights on Lille centre-back Alexsandro, according to [**ESPN Brazil**](https://www.espn.com.br/futebol/mercado-da-bola/artigo/_/id/15855939/alexsandro-e-alvo-prioritario-west-ham-reforcar-defesa-janeiro).

The London club plan to reinforce their defensive line as soon as the winter transfer window opens, and the Brazilian has emerged as their top target.

The 26-year-old, valued at over £25.5 million (€30m) by Lille, is open to a move but still uncertain about the timing.

Despite his ambition to take the next step in his career, Alexsandro reportedly fears that adapting to English football could take longer than expected and potentially cost him a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad for 2026.

The defender is currently competing for one of the final centre-back spots under Carlo Ancelotti, alongside Fabrício Bruno, Lucas Beraldo and Léo Ortiz.

With Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhães and Éder Militão already considered locks, Alexsandro knows his chances depend on maintaining top form and regular minutes at club level.

Before arriving in France in 2022, Alexsandro had a long route to the top. After coming through Flamengo’s youth ranks, he played for Resende in Brazil and then moved to Portugal, representing Praiense, Amora and Chaves.

His performances at Chaves earned him a transfer to Lille, where he quickly became a key figure in Ligue 1 thanks to his calmness on the ball and defensive consistency.

Linked in recent months with Saudi clubs such as Al Nassr, the Brazilian remains under contract with Lille until June 2028. Whether he takes the Premier League leap with West Ham in January will depend on how the negotiations unfold in the coming weeks.
