Brighton and Hove Albion have been left ‘perplexed’ by Evan Ferguson’s situation at Roma. There’s now a chance he could return in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say Ferguson is now on the discard list at Roma alongside Artem Dovbyk. There are both ‘lost strikers who are no longer scoring’.
Manager Gian Piero Gasperini is now losing patience with the pair. That was shown in midweek when he sent clear signals about the after the Europa League match against Viktoria Plzen.
Roma already tried to sell Dovbyk in the summer and are likely to do push again in January. Ferguson, meanwhile, could be pushed towards the exit as well. Roma are considering re-negotiating the loan deal with Brighton.
The Seagulls may be happy to do so as they have been left ‘perplexed’ by Ferguson’s spell at Roma so far. They had expected their striker to be a regular, but he’s been used in an ‘infrequent’ manner at best.
They perhaps think that has played a part in the ‘deep crisis’ that their striker now finds himself in. Brighton are not happy, neither are Roma, and it appears an end to the loan deal could be on the cards in January.
